Passion towards sauna

🌿 Where did the passion for sauna come from?

If I’m honest, it did not begin with a single moment.
It was something that unfolded - slowly, almost quietly - over time.

For years, I have been drawn to spaces that allow people to pause.
Moments where the noise fades, the body softens, and the mind finally catches up. Whether through nature, movement, or stillness, I have always been searching for that sense of reset.

The sauna brought all of these elements together.

What first intrigued me was not just the heat, but the ritual around it: the transition between hot and cold, the rhythm of entering and stepping out, the intentional slowing down and that specific buzzy feeling what you feel when stepping into the cold water. It is not simply about relaxation; it is about awareness. About being present in your body in a way that modern life rarely allows.

Over time, I began to notice something deeper.

In many places, the sauna had become just another facilitym something functional, often rushed, sometimes lacking atmosphere or intention. Yet, when done well, it felt entirely different. It became immersive, almost transformative. A space where people reconnect and not only with themselves, but with each other and with nature.

That contrast stayed with me.

Alongside my academic background in environmental management and my interest in design and systems thinking, I started to see sauna not just as a wellness activity, but as an experience that can be intentionally designed. A space where materials, temperature, light, and even silence work together to shape how people feel.

That is where the idea for NATTIU began.

Not as just another sauna—but as a place that captures that deeper experience.
A space rooted in nature, guided by simplicity, and designed with intention.

And so, before opening, I began travelling.
Testing saunas across different places, cultures, and settings—trying to understand what truly works, what is missing, and what makes an experience unforgettable.

This journey is part of that process.
